§ 2-50. Community development department—Functions.

The community development department shall be responsible for the comprehensive plan, long range and current planning, greenspace protection, intergovernmental coordination, infill and redevelopment, analyzing and providing advice on land use regulations and other zoning matters, administering and enforcing the unified development code, assisting public works in enforcement of technical codes, creating and maintaining, to the extent of available resources, geographic information systems (GIS) in collaboration with the county's GIS that will support the functions of the department, registering and collecting business registration certificate fees and occupational taxes, issuing alcoholic beverage and other licenses and collecting regulatory license fees, administering and managing the building and land development permitting processes, and managing special projects related to capital enhancement projects.
